What is pay scale and housing like for a school teacher in Hawaii?

My daughter wants to teach in Hawaii after graduating college. Anyone there care to elaborate the truth?

Teachers here are not paid very well. I don't know why. They are paid about 1/3 what a mainland big city teacher would make. I would suggest actually calling some of the schools here and talk to someone in the school. They are all very friendly and probably wouldn't mind talking to you.
