If you are a union worker, go strait to your union rep, if not, as previously stated, you are probably an "at will" employee, and like previously stated, they can fire you for any non-discriminatory reason at any time. I would also take a look at the company's employment/personel policy, and look for any conflicts between it, and the reason you were fired. If you have worked at one company for a long time, some companys will try to get rid of you because an older employee costs the company more money. If you can prove you were terminated for your age this is (age) discrimination, and is illegal, but very tough to prove. It all depends on how bad you wnat the job back, or compensation, but keep in mind that unless you are unionized, the employer will almost always win a legal battle, and even if you are unionized, the legal process can still take years, and cost lots of personal money. So unless you can find a black and white conflict between stated company policy, and your situation, your pretty much SOL, sorry, and good luck finding another job.

You are likely an "at will" employee, which means they can fire you for any reason other than race, age, sex, religion. You can still collect unemployment benefits, though...as long as you didn't get fired for gross misconduct.

You should go to either the person, fired you. OR to the person that is in high rank. YOU could also write to the company or owner. why fired and not a warning or writeup.
