I worked in photo retail for 13 years, it was fun learning about new cameras and related products. The only experience I had was interest in photography...the rest came with time. On the downside some electronics stores work on commission, with a base pay, some have quotas you have to meet to keep your job. Most people are not keen in buying extended warranties and that is where the store makes the money, not in the products themselves.Accessories, ie cables, cases, batteries, media, and anything else that makes the "toys" more fun is where the money is. Working with the public can be a challenge especially during and right after the holidays with extended hours, so they work your tail off. Don't expect to spend much time with your family during the holidays because they will have you working as many hours as they can get you. I am not trying to dissuade you from getting a job as a sales associate, it can be fun and rewarding, but I wanted to share the other side of how it is too. Good Luck!

You really don't need that much experience. When I started working at radioshack I had no sales experience or know anyhting about electronics and I was one of their best. They train you and teach you every thing. If your looking for a sales associate job go to radioshack.
