Why does the general public look down on prison guards?

A. It is not a job most people would want to do. B. People who take on this jobs tend to suffer from low self esteem and either have, or want to have, power over others to boost their self esteem. C. It's a job, not a career, so the professionalism is on par with Garbage hauler, Janitor, stable boy, etc. Not anything others would tend to envy, thus those with aspirations, connections and education see the job choice, and the people who fill them, as inferior
