What area would you like to work in? The transporation department (i.e., conductors and engineers for example) has excellent pay and benefits but you would first need to become conductor certified via one of the schools which UP hires out of. The latest information I have read is that all of the major railroads, like UP, albeit it has somewhat slowed, are still hiring at a steady pace so it is very likely that you would get an interview if you completed the class. If you are more interested in corporate, I am not really sure, but would guess your best option here would be to contact UP (their website is attached) and ask about possible openings.
