How can I work as freelance online journalist or as a contributing writer?

I am a self employed person and I do have so much time on my hands at times and I feel I should use this free time gainfully. That is why I am looking for an opportunuty a contributing writer for online magazines/journals.

You can bid on projects at Guru.com http://www.guru.com and eLance.com http://www.elance.com and similar sites. They often have projects for freelance writers. To build credibility on the Web, you can start by submitting articles for other sites to use. While often for free, it is your best marketing tool for yourself. Plus you can include them in your portfolio that you were published in so-and-so website and will be able to direct future clients to these samples of work.
