Heavy Equipment Operators Please Respond!!!?

How did you get your job as an operator? Did you start as a laborer or did you know someone who helped you get the job? What are the steps of the ladder to becoming an operator? It seems like everyone wants experience but where does someone begin? Help!

im an operator and i make beds sounds dumb i know but thats what i do...i started out cliping beds witch is at the bottom of the latter and now im and operator..all you reall have to do is work hard and show that you really want the job...just do the best you can down in anything and you can be an operator or whatever you want...by the way a clipper makes 8 bucks an hour and now i make 11.21 an hour...hope i could help
