Best Answer:
In the US it can be military training, a two year technical school, or a two-year Associates Degree college program to become a technician. A minimum four year Bachelor's Degree program is required to become a licensed engineer. Becoming a licensed ham radio operator or an active member of a robotics hobbyist club will help you to become an exceptional engineer. WK

I became an electronics technician after two years of electronics courses at a local college. You just study electronics books to get the knowledge but to get a job in the field, most companies will require a degree of some sort. A two year degree (Bachelors degree) will do for most places but to be an engineer usually requires a four year degree.
