How to find real companies hiring at home typist, clerical help, data entry workers?
Asked by lake dweller
I want to work from my home doing clerical work. I want to be hired by a legitimate company and I do not want to be scammed into paying for this. (I already have spent over $200.00) I am hard working and organized and will be an assest to a company yet all I can find are scams and sites that want to sell me something. If you are selling something please do not respond!

Consider joining a professional organization. I was a member of the International Virtual Assistants Association (www.IVAA.org) when I had my typing service. I think membership was $75 for a year. I took a few of their certification tests and participated in their Request For Proposal RFP program. People or companies looking for help would post job listings on the RFP board. IVAA is vigilant about screening out spam. I would see which posts wanted the skills I offered, write a proposal - and very often I would get the job. I also wrote a column for their monthly newsletter, got to know fellow members and got jobs because fellow members needed help. I'm not in IVAA now, because I don't have a typing service, but I am still in touch with members who now refer writing jobs to me.

try making posters/brochures for yourself...and submitting them to companies or community billboards. As long as you can show a cost benefit to a company, they would consider you on contract for doing the typing :)
