Is this enough to get the job I want?
Asked by artforce_1
When I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Management, I could not get into the field I wanted to because of lack of experience (Logistics/Transportation Management). I am about to graduate with my Masters in Business Adminstration and I got my CDL and became a truck driver over the past 2 years and I wanted to know if this was going to be enough to get into the management side of the field or should I be prepared to get more education?

Best Answer:
Should have enough to at least obtain a entry level management position in logistics. Do not expect to start at the top simply b/c you have an MBA. Experience will give you the desired rewards down the road.

A:
Stop with the education and bulk up on experience and references. Education is the bare minimum requirement while experience and references make you stand out from other applicants.

Get out the yellow pages and call companies in your field and ask if you can fax over your resume and to who's attention. You can follow up in a week with a call to that person. Take a look at your resume. Is it full of gobbledegook about you are looking for a meaningful job or discusses your character instead of what work you can do? Employers want to see a specific job objective like to find a sales trainee position where I can use my strong interpersonal skills. Stuff about finding a meaningful job goes in the garbage esp if you can't say what kind of job you are looking for. You should also be telling everyone you knows including relatives that you are looking for a job.
