how much money do journeyman electricians make?
Asked by adam s
how much money do they make and what is the difference between a liscesed electrician and a journeyman

A:
Best Answer:
In California journeyman electricians can make anywhere between $21.oo to $35.oo an hour depending on the type of work and company he works for. A licensed electrician suggests to me that he is a private contractor. A private contractor can charge any thing he wants to., depending on the job.

A:
a good journeyman can make $25-$45 non union in ca. a licensed electrician is a contractor assuming they are licensed thru the state contractors board. the difference is a contractor is allowed to design, build, and charge more than $500 (in CA). avg hourly rate charge for that here is $65/hr. a journeyman can only build and has no rights to speak of. a union electrician can make a lot more but also must deal with the unions and forget about getting your own license. and since CA now require certification of electricians, you can look for that altho it is only a code test and passing it is not a reflection of capabilities in the field
