If I were to apply for a prep cook position , should it be Chili's or Mimi's?

How about both? Just because you apply at a restaurant doesn't mean you're going to get the job. Apply at both places. Maybe you'll get an interview at both. This is when after you sell yourself, you can get your questions answered and find out which employer is better for you. If you're really lucky, both places may offer you a position, and that's when you can get your salary driven up. Say you decide you want to work at Chili's, when they offer you a position you can always say, "Well Mimi's offered me more money." There's a good chance they'll match their offer. If not, you could always say that you'd rather work there at Chili's anyway, so you'll take less money. Anyway, I would just apply at both and that'll give you the best opportunity to decdie for yourself which is the better place to work.
