Why is it so hard to get a job at Publix? Any tips on how to get in?

I've been trying to get in to Publix for about two years now and nothing's working. I'm a college kid with an average resume but a clean record and I'm good with people. It seems like they hire either kids or old people and I'm just getting very discouraged being overlooked like this. Do any of you have any advice? Because I really wanted to make a career out of it...

i am a publix associate for 8 months now, and it took me almost a month to get hired. I have a clean record too, but the catch is that you have to keep in touch with them and show them that you really want the job, not just applying on the computer and updating, i suggest talking with the assistant manager of the store or the customer service leader.

Just keep trying, keep calling the person that does the hiring, make sure they know that you are interested. And i guess it would depend on where you are at and if there are any openings at the time.
