Best Answer:
A lead worker is usually defined as an emloyee who knows the tasks well enough that they are made resposible for overseeing a small group of workers, to assist in training and supervising the quality of the work. They have no direct supervisory authority, in as much as hiring, firing, scheduling, etc. A Supervisor, on the other hand, is usually in direct supervision of a number of leadworkers, and the people under them. The supervisor is usually resposible for scheduling and job assignments, as well as the training of all the people under them. Manager and Director are sometimes interchangeable, depending on the situation. Managers normally oversee a greater volume of people, ie. supervisors and leadworkers, and possibly more than one department if you're looking at a manufacturing facility. Directors may be in a strictly managerial position, where managers report to them. They are usually involved in making decisions that the managers are required to implement down through the lower employee levels.
