Has anyone in the West Midlands UK have any apprenticeship schemes available in plumbing or electrical work?
Asked by muesli1
My son is 17 and is very keen to start an apprenticeship in plumbing or electrical work. He has tried the usual outlets but has been turned down each time. He is bright keen and reliable, and wants to be given a chance. Can anyone help? Thanks

Get him to go down to Connexions. Ours in the East Midlands has loads of paid apprenticeships going, with about £100 pay a week. If not, just ring through the phone book, as a lot of companies train you as they go, and don't advertise. Wishing him luck.

why not try a YTS (youth training scheme), they have them all over the country. not much money though £30- £40 a week until you complete the course... (bit like slave labour) but you get the opportunity to learn a trade for life! :) gl to your son whatever ends up happening
