Mindful Tom
How should a young, experienced project assistant answer during job interview for the post of Program Manager
Asked by Mindful Tom
I am 24 years old. I have worked as a project assistant for an NGO in my country (Cambodia) for roughly 2 years. Now I wish to apply for a vacant and challenging position of Program Manager. However, I still am afraid that during job interview, the interview panel will think that I am still quite young and inexperienced for the position. Though I am willing to take up more responsibilities and like to do something that challenges my capacity, I do not have experience managing or coordinating a project myself successfully so far. So I really do not have project or program management or coordination experience. But I do have cotributed to successful project implementation by working as project assistant. But I did not have a chance to get involved in real-life project planning and strategy making and proposal writing and project evaluation. I think I have made my point clear enough. Your valuable time and advice and ideas shared are really really very much appreciated.
