Don't get out of bed for that much. The mean starting salary for armed security is 12 to 15 per hr.

If you are getting into or already in security or law enforcement to make money, you are in the wrong field. The national average of income for a security gaurd on the public scale is approx. $10-$12.00 an hour. If you have a college degree or specialized training in your background you may qualify for federal positions. USAJOBS.com has many job openings in physical security or security specialists. Having military, college and an extensive background in law enforcement administration, I know that the more you can offer an employer, such as specialized training, the better chance of them hiring you. Most places require their applicants to be under 37 and some requrire those under 35. If you have the time, if you haven't already done so, get at least a two year degree and police certifications under your belt. You will be more marketable and ahead of the game. There was a time not too long ago that someone with a B.S. Degree would be a shew in for the higher paying police/security jobs. Not true today. To make good money in this field you really need to pursue a masters degree or PH D. Good luck. Missouricop

$9.50 on hour? With the new Home land security at hand I can't imagine the Airports, Harbor etc. couldn't fetch more. Also try any D.O.E., dept of Energy site as they have beefed up their ranks. This would require drug test, security clearance etc., alot of these jobs have been going to ex-millitary but average joe can get these jobs too. $9.50, sounds like its a take it or leave it offer. Don't know that much about your position but it doesn't cost too look and see what is out there. New jobs may mean you have too move or maybe not... look for jobs, usa, gov. there are about 2 or 3 web sites dedicated too these positions. you never know...
