What can a 55 year old man work with good background and experience?
Asked by Michael T
My dad has been looking for a job for a long time now, he is 55 years old and has only had two other jobs in his life, he became the president and owner of a tobbaco dealership that he eventually sold when having 13 million dollars net a year. After that he became a warehouse manager for about 10 years until the compnay moved. What can he do special to get a good job now? By the way he has a major in accounting and a BS in business at a good college.

It sounds like your Dad could do a lot of things. He certainly has some good experience and education. Does your Dad know what he wants to do? He could always get an appointment with a guidance counselor at your local college and do some testing and strategising with them. They could probably suggest things that will suit his interests and financial requirements. What you want out of your job changes with each decade that you enter in life as do y our financial requirements. I suggest that once he has a good idea of what he wants to do that he puts together a great resume (maybe hire a service) and get it out there. I have several resumes. Each one focuses more on the job experience that I am interested in at the moment. Remember he is still young with a lot to offer, remind him of that! :)

Would he be interested in teaching at a community college? Or maybe being a consultant to more than one company?
