What's the best way to become a truck driver?
Asked by Drowningbluestars
Should I go to a vocational school?
Or should I go to a CDL certification business?
Or if I worked for a shipping company, should I ask my employer to train me?

Swift or Warner are both two good companies to start with.
they will pay for your training and sign you up with a year contract.
the pay sucks the first year but the good jobs all want three plus years experience. so it doesn't matter who you work for you just need to get past that three years line.so you might as well sign with a company paid training program.

Either ask your employer to train you or go to a truck driving school. One thing to remember is that truck driving is a tough job. Truck drivers are away from home for a long time and they work long hours alone. It is not the glory job some think that it is. Thank God for truck drivers. If it were not for them we would have nothing in our stores. Everything that we use is transported by trucks.

My husband has worked for Werner Interprises for 4 years and you can either go to a truck driving school which is what my hubby did or Werner will put you through their truck driving school for FREE so there is no tuition to repay or anything all you have to do I believe is sign about a 2-3 year contract with them saying that you will work for them and not quit. Not a bad deal! If we would have known that before we spent $5000 to put my hubby through truck driving school it would have saved us alot of money.
