Cleaning...?
Asked by Trixie
Does anyone think cleaning is a bad job? I have a friend who does this, cleaning offices and stores, and she says that many people think it is degrading. I don't know, it's honest and the pay is more than that of a cashier (about $4.00 more than average wage). Plus, especially in a dentists' office, she can get paid about $35.00 for work she can finish in one hour. For a job that does not require schooling, it seems pretty good. What do you guys think?

I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with what she does...or what anyone does. Who is anyone to judge what other people do for a living? I think that in the US, it is almost expected that all children will go to college. But think about it, if everyone went to college and became a teacher, lawyer or psychologist, etc. who would be available to do our plumbing or fix our cars? I don't car whether you are flipping burgers at Mickey Dee's, or cleaning offices. As long as you make an honest living and don't live off the government, I am fine with whatever you choose to do. And hey, $35 an hour ain't nothing to sneeze at!! I'm impressed.

I did it for years and it's OK it you are young enough and your body can stand the constant stress but, once you get older honey it is not good at all! If you can go to college! You will earn more than your friend and you won't have to clean other peoples nasty messes! Good Luck!

Its not a bad job, I did it in my younger years, but I never knew what to charge, and I couldn't say no to some of the jobs, so I was underpaid and overworked, and I was friendly with my clients, and that will sometimes get you less money, There is good money to be made in cleaning,I worked in the Va. area, the girls that I know today are making 80.00 to 110.00 a house, and they do the simple things, if you want anything extra you pay per job.so three girls can go into a big house and be out of there in less than an hour, and they trade jobs from one house to another, that way they don't get stuck doing the same thing, and they have a good time doing it. Its a good job to save money and get some schooling, you really ought to think about even taken classes at a community college. so that you have something else to rely on for your future.

One of my businesses is a cleaning service and I can make more part time than most people make full time. Go for it.
