I wrk in housekeeping. why do ppl trash rooms n not leave a tip?
Asked by mew69_77740
housekeepers are givin a certian amount of rooms and time in which to clean them. yes its not required to leave a tip but if you majorly trash a room and it takes us an hour to clean it why do you still leave us high and dry with nothing. we don't enjoy it but its our job and alot more work then people think it is... think of it if you were in our shoes cleaning up trashed rooms. we dont even get paid much. so why? why trash a room and leave nothing?

I've never trashed a room, I always leave it very clean, so I can't relate to the people who feel it is necessary to do so. The way I see it, you are getting paid to do a job. It is your job and you chose to work there. If you don't want to clean up after people, find a new job.

I agree...here is a suggestion from the site listed below. "Housekeeper Tip: $2 per day in a moderate hotel, $3 to $5 per day in a deluxe hotel. (Tipping daily rather than when you check out ensures that the tip will go to the specific person who cleaned your room.)"

People usually think the housekeepers steal so why tip?

Unfortunately, people who do trash a room probably won't tip. They probably didn't tip in the bar or restaurant either. It's a shame, but its true. I know its frustrating. A friend of mine is the head of housekeeping for a Hampton Inn and she comes in with some horrific stories that people might not even think of. (So think of this next time you don't tip.) One of her girls ended up locked a room with a guest (he was in the closed up bathroom) he walked out naked, and tried to throw the girl down on the bed, and well, you know what goes from there. Luckily she got away, but most people don't realize what people in the service industry can have to endure. What's a couple extra bucks, especially if you had a great time on vacation!
