South Carolina state laws on operating an at home childcare legally unlicensed?

I know in some states you can operate legally but there are standards about how many children/families you can have. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I just can't find what the exact laws are.

Im not sure what the state laws are for South Carolina but, in Oregon you can operate an in home daycare with out a license.
