A local technical/vocational school is probably your best bet for getting the training you need. I think there are one or two national truck driver training companies, but they don't necessarily offer courses in a lot of locations, and you may not want to go and stay in another part of the country just to get trained. How many times you can take the test will probably depend on your state, but the school you sign up with should be able to tell you that. Now for your driving history: Pick some trucking companies out of the yellow pages, call and ask to speak to the person who hires drivers, and ask this question: Will you hire someone with a couple of misdemeanors on their MVR, or does the MVR have to be totally clean? There is a HUGE demand for drivers in the freight industry right now, so a potential employer may be willing to overlook some minor problems, particularly if they were not too recent. As to your spelling, I used to process drivers' paperwork for a trucking company, and I have seen MUCH worse. We had 2 or 3 drivers who were actually illiterate, and I'm not making a joke. I don't know how they passed their tests, or were able to read road signs. The point is, if they could be professional drivers, so can you. If you are willing to do long hauls, there is $$$$$ to be made!

1. Find a large company(DART, Swift, Werner, JB Hunt, Yellow) to train you and give you your first job. they may even train for free if you commit to them for a certain amount of time 2. Ask a recruiter or call your state's DMV 3. Misdemenor should not matter, no DUI or major driving offense should be good. explain all your violations to the recruiter and they will tell you straight up what they think. However my company would hire someone with your minor record if you had more experience in a truck. 4. The way to be successful in trucking is to a. keep a clean MVR without major violations, moving violations, and accidents b. stick with one company for more tha a month, trucking has huge turnover so by showing committment others will be more likely to hire you c. be a safe driver-keep good logbooks, keep all your permits up to date and legal to avoid fines and a blemished MVR d. think about getting into the refrigerated hauling business, rates will be higher than dry goods a lot of the time.
