Apply for another job. The tedious task and additional possibilities always made it easier for me to wait.

Dont' stop. Apply for more jobs, even if they aren't suited to you, just apply for random jobs then you will get random call backs and it makes you feel a whole lot better.

you may not get it, you can never guarantee it, but in the meantime keep applying for jobs, you may get it but keep looking anyways, you just might find one that pays more.

I just had an interview recently and it is nerve wracking, but just try and keep busy and remember you put your best foot forward and interviewed the best you could. Now it's in their hands. I'm sure everything went well and congratulations!

Find something else to put your mind on.
Also, just let go. Whatever they decide is what they decide. It's out of your hands now.
I learned to let go of things while flying in airplanes. I told myself, "Well, I have no control here. I have no way to fly the aircraft during a tragedy. I am entirely at the mercy of other people. So if we start to fall out of the sky, I should just enjoy the ride--because nothing I do, say, think, don't do, don't say, or don't think is going to change the fact that I am falling out of the sky toward certain death."
It gets pretty easy to let go of other situations over which I have no control after letting go of control over my own life.
Try it. It works. And it beats the mind-numbing obsession over things.

Keep yourself busy, look for other jobs, have a plan b - then if you don't get it, you will already be well on track for more interviews, look at it as more experience for the job interview that you really want...
my mother always says to me 'if it's meant for you, it won't pass you by'

Obsessing doesn't do anything. Write a thank you letter or email, expressing your sincere interest in the position, and apply for other jobs, in case you don't get this one.
Make sure you have everything in order in case you start the new job soon.

Just sit tight and wait. I know at my place of employment the 2nd interview is given a drug screen and that takes (seems like an) eternity to get back, but it's only 4 days. Send a thank you letter to the person you interviewed with, or leave them a voice mail to thank them for their time and you anxiously await their decision and then leave it at that. They hate to be called everyday and it leaves an impatient taste in their mouth like your pushy or something.
Good Luck!

I recommend continuing to apply for other jobs. I know this sounds odd, but sometimes the best way to get through this time frame is to busy yourself looking for yet another dream job.
Aggressively pursue other job openings and put your best foot forward, just as you did before.
Before you know it, you'll be getting that phone call.
Another benefit..... in the unlikely event you don't get this job. You'll already have other coals in the fire and won't feel like you are behind the 8-ball.
Good luck!

it's good you know you'll have the result in a week. Busy yourself with searching for other open positions in the ads everyday, one week is very short. pretty soon you'll have the result. And if it doesnt favor you,- you can move on to the next prospect you saw in the previous ads.
