what does a diesel mechanic make an hour?

In the southwest near the Arizona border I've seen them making $13-25 an hour depending on experience.

well as a matter of fact i am or at least was a Diesel Mechanic. i got out of it because you have to spend so much money on tools to be able to do your job. an old mechanic once told me you have to spend 50.00 to make a 100.00. so it's not as profitable as people think. i have worked for Cat, International, Freight liner and a couple other small shops. went to schools for A/C and wiring and all kinds of other stuff, what did i make. 16.00 an hr. what am i doing now. well i started driving truck because they made more than the guy that lays under the truck, then i became a dock supervisor and now an operations manager for a trucking company, my advise to you is to not go into mechanics. its an honest living but don't pay chit.
