What should I pack when going to work in oil field?
Asked by tonya_momma
Husband leaving soon to work in oil field. Don't know what to expect. We're told laundry, cooking and cleaning is provided for 7 day on, 7 day off 12 hour shifts, any input will be appreciated.

where exactly is he going...up to Alaska? I actually lived up there with some oil drillers. Sounds like he is going to be living in a "compound" like I did....if so he does not need much, they supply food, house keeping, entertainment (free movie theater), basketball court, gym, library (although not a great selection-bring books if he likes to read), game room (pool tables, etc.) A ipod or walkman might be a good idea, or some dvds and portable dvd player. Think pretty much everything else will be provided for him.

Toiletries, DVD's and advil. The drilling companies usually supply everything else. Don't pack any "sissy" DVD's like "Bridges of Madison County". Make sure it is MAN's-MAN movies!
