Would anyone know how to become a adult caregiver for mental disable adults that would live in your home?

I am specificly asking about the one that is connected with the goverment that pays you for taking care of the mental disable adults ( I LIVE ON LONG ISLAND NEW YORK)

You need to have a license to qualify for this job. I am sure there is a number that you can call for more info. Or if you don't know who to call try to secretary of state and they will be able to help you out.

You have to get in touch with your area chapter or organization for people with disabilities. Then you have to take some classes CPR etc. Clients rights abuse and neglect. You then would have a home visit and see if your home and yourself qualify!! This is a process that everyone has to go through before they would hire you. The client and yourself also have to be compatible and they choose who their caregivers are also.
I did this in Ohio but i am not sure what the laws are or the regulations for each state. Good luck!!
you can also try council on aging in your area, or Elder Care!!
