It depends on the location but between 30 and 40 thousand to start is pretty normal. After you work for 25 years you make between 50 and 90 thousand. Where I work you start at 37 and top out at 69 after 29 years.

She's not going to get $70K a year...depends on where she lives. 25 to 40K is more like it. But you just don't snap your fingers and become a teacher. Supply and demand will dictate that one for her. But in the end, who cares. Let her do her thing...let her spend a little of that on you when you're both out having fun...and let her worry about it when the time comes.

Yeah teachers do get paid crap, but there are some benefits. first...ex-studens give you things for free at starbucks, jack in the box, etc... second....your friend knows that she may never have to pay those loans if she goes into teaching...there are many loan forgivness programs for teachers third...i know of teachers who only have been teaching for 5 years and know how the system works to get over 60K per year. it is possible to make 70 to 90K a year too but its a little more difficult. www.lausdsalary.net this is Los Angeles Unified School Districts pay scale. but she wont be making 70K as a starting teacher unless she has a connection somewhere.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career.
