How much do UPS employees get paid?
Asked by fantasticprince
I know it's a vague question, but I'm a college student who is looking for a part-time job without any specific position in mind. Does anyone know how much UPS pays for the various student-type positions (an hour)? I'm also interested in airport jobs and any student-type jobs that pay the best (relatively).
Thanks in advance.

Unless you have a degree, you have to start as a package handler. In the Chicago area, that position pays $8.50/hour to start off. After 40 days it goes up to $9.00/hour and after a year, you get a $1.00 raise on your anniversary date. They also have programs where they pay for school, but it depends on where you live. Check out http://www.upsjobs.com for more information in your area.
They also give health insurance, dental insurance, and other benefits to part-time workers. Plus the shifts are great for those in school. It's hard work, but it's worth it.
For other jobs, check Craigslist.org. Good Luck.

Its minimum wage or slightly above, but you get great benefits. They do get decent medical and dental coverage, even for part timers.

I spoke to a part-time UPS driver last week...he said he's making about $700/week. Works his ass off, too.
(Oh...their trucks don't have A/C, either.)
