LZB217
In your opinion, do you think she should be fired or demoted?
Asked by LZB217
I had horrible service today at a local Waffle House. The cook was talking on his cell phone while preparing mine and other customers' food. I complained to a server and he went to the back and got a lady. She questioned him and then gave him permission to continue talking on the phone. She then told him that a customer was complaining about him and he asked who. The lady pointed at me and the two began to talk about me as if I were not sitting right in front of them. I asked for their names and a customer service number. I called and complained to the corprate office. I went to another Waffle House and received excellent service. The waitress was great. She informed me that the lady from the first resteraunt was the regional human resource director and trains every new employee in the region and the first resteraunt is where she trains all of the new employees. I find this sad. Should this lady be fired or demoted? Its obvious she isn't very professional or good at her job. This goes out to all the people who expect bad service from a waffle house: There is no job "below you." Its a job, I'm grateful for mine. I know if I treat enough people like crap than I won't get customers anymore. You should work to the best of your ability rather it be at a fortune 500 company or a HoJo's. Businesses succeed when you have good customer service, because without customer.. you have no business. That cook was getting paid to cook not paid to chat on his phone. What ever it was, I didn't want his phone germs in my food- thats gross and I'm sure if the health department would stand for that behavior. I have worked with the public and I treat others how I wish to be treated. I have served customers the way I wish to be served. I've never worked for a company that felt it was professional or acceptable to talk on my phone while on the clock. I've seen managers fired for less deplorable behavior. If you don't take your job seriously, you deserve to lose it.

Waffles are bad for you. Apart from that, I'm also fed up with idiots, and people who are spectacularly bad at their jobs. Where do they all come from? And more importantly, who hires them? She should be sacked. I could do a better job.

Waffle house is one of the cheapest restaurants in the south. You get what you pay for. If you want great service, go to Mortons.

Maybe the cook had an emergency or something. She obviously has gotten to where she is by some means, and you would think she knows what she is doing. Add - ok fine go and try to get someone fired, I hope you feel much better afterwards.

If the formal complaints continue then she will more than likely be replaced. They usually don't take drastic measures based on a single conplaint.
