It depends from place to place but usually a BA.

i am one all i had to do was take a test..it was easy..i have been working as one for almost 15 years..i am sure you will need at least a GED...

i did voluntary work in the local mental health centre. They sent me on a couple of short day courses then gave me a job.

Never used to need any qualifacations, however now the government require you to have a NVQ lvel 2 in care , but most mental health teams will take you on & train you up to the NVQ on reduced pay!! NVQ takes about 1 year i was doing this job for 10 years, can be a very good job
