I want to be an apprentice welder in Alberta?

I would like to take my apprenticeship in Alberta, Canada. But with the ammount of skilled tradespeople already migrating to Alberta what honestly are my chances for completing my apprenticeship and working out there??

If you're willing to go up north the Ft. McMurray area appears to have 30-40 solid years of employment opportunities for tradesman. If I recall properly they believe that employment needs for the oil sands projects collectively will peak in 2012, so still plenty of time to find a job in my opinion.
