How does a misdemeanor for retail theft affect future training?
Asked by ladypudinpop
I have a misdemeanor for retail theft and am considering training for a career in criminal justice as a victim's advocate. How is this going to affect my future career and also what is one of the best online training schools available?

I have worked in retail for 11 years. There is a list, called the "black list" of all people who have worked retail and been caught stealing either merchandise or money. They are put on a list to Do Not Hire. But, I do not think it will mess you up in the academy. Good luck Hon, in your new start!

A:
Your serious? Your training won't be affected. Online schools take money from everybody. But employers providing that line of work will likely frown on your record.

Since retail theft isn't a victimless crime, you may find it hard to get a job as a victim's advocate. I think that your record would show a conflict of interest.
