I'm looking for a job as a Medical Biller/Coder but I don't know where to start. Anyone have any referrals?

I am an entry-level biller. I just finished school for the certification in the field. I type 40wpm and very well familiar with all Microsoft applications.

I would suggest you contact all the major insurance companies: Kaiser, Blue cross, blue shield, Health-net. I have a friend who just graduated she is also a medical biller she is currently employed at ambulance company so you should check those out as well. Lastly, don't forget about the doctor's offices as well as hospital. To make life a little bit easier for yourself sign up with a employment agency that strictly deals with people in the medical profession. Good Luck on your search !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Co. in your area? Perhaps they would have the kind of job you're looking for.

90 wpm is very good. Ask your own doctor, if you have one, and they are not getting sued for anything, if s/he knows of anyone. That's a start.

Hospitals, large clinics, physician billing service companies all use medical billers. Try to get some hands on experience to add to your certification. Good luck
