I have worked in Corrections for quite a few years. I was a Correctional Sgt. when I left. 1st If your prisons are state run, then you will have to go to the state web site that you want to work in. 2nd. Most correctional positions require a test. They will hire by what ever your placement is on the test. 3rd. Most state have a academy that lasts about 2-6 weeks. Depends on the state. 3rd. You need to think about what it will be like being locked up 8-12 hrs a day with convicted felons. From murders to baby rapers. I have been involved with riots and too many fights to remember. Think about what you want.
