How to ask for a raise?

i have been working for the same company for about 5 yrs. and have only gotten $1.00 more then when i started, i have got payed health ins. and cell phone and hoildays and a week payed vaction. but those things don't help pay the bills that i have. my boss or onwer pass away in a car crash in 2003 and two guys move and took over. we are pretty small haveing only 5 people me being the only female. by the way its and arcade business so i can't do some of the things that go with it like moving the games. we have lots of locations that i visted and that care of the games in the begaing i was only a arcade att. taking tickets for prizes and such.

Be frank and tell your boss that you have only received a dollar raise in five years. Ask him if there is anything that will improve your performance enough for a raise? If he gives some suggestions, take them to heart, and ask if you could have a review in a few weeks to determine if you are doing them to his satisfaction...
