What do you know about Public Relations?
Asked by gurlygurl20000
I know that Public Relations is an occupational field that revolves around stuff usually in the Public eye. I have a question do you have to have a 4-year (or more) degree in Communications, or do you absolutely need the Bachelors and Masters to do it? And also is there an aspect in nonprofit organizations/charities that has public relations?

No degree in whatsoever can teach you public relations. I think it is very inborn thing. The best example of Public Relations are stewards or waitors. have you seen them working? have you seen their two faces ever? one face in front of the guest and the other while they go for a pick-up in the kitchen? They can be the best Gurus for any public relation student.
In any field PR is all about knowledge with smile. knowledge comes with degree but more with experiance and smile is something inborne. you get me?

You are generally required to have a bachelor's degree. Any amount of real life experience can usually be substituted, though, if you are lucky enough to have it.
Almost every company has a public relations office. Smaller companies may not necessarily have a PR office or rep, but they still have a need for PR.
Almost all nonprofit organizations and charities have a public relations office, as well. In fact, that is #1 for their cause. If they do not have good publicity, advertisements, and an overall good public image, they will not be able to raise as much money for their cause.
