Where can I find an office manager?

I have a financial planning practice and need to find an office manager. I posted an ad in the NY Times and Craig's list but havent met the right candidates. I guess I can try Monster, or a recruiter but if i can avoid the fee i would like to. Any suggestions?

Look in the want adds in the news paper there are always people with good references in there.
