How to become a heavy equipment operator?

I really want to be a heavy equipment operator but I don't have time or money to go to school to do it. Is there any other way to learn?

Join the Army.

I just go out and climb on my tractor and fire it up! Maybe you can find a contractor that will train you at minimum wages. Some schools do offer financing for their courses, too.

Best way to become an operator is join the operator engineers union. They train you in how to run heavy equipment through an apprenticeship. It takes a lot of dedication, but well worth it. Good Luck with everything.
