What kind of jobs are available for someone who is majoring in psychology and math?
Asked by hope2help
My boyfriend is about to make a life changing decision, but he is afraid to give up his engineering major for a math and psychology double major because he doesn't know what he can do with it. I believe the change would be good for him but I need something tangible to share with him. Thanks in advance :)

The best job for a double major of psychology and math is a research position at a university or college. Believe it or not, statistics and mathematics are very important in psychology. It is important in Epidemiology, which is the scientific study of factors affecting the health and illness of populations. This would also include mental health. Most of the time, psychology majors have to take statisical courses as well. A double major would be great if he wants to do statistical research studies on experiments or cases. If he wants to become a psychologist, he needs to pursue and advanced degree in psychology though. I majored in Math and considered minoring in Psychology (and took a couple of Psych classes)..but I was already minoring in another subject..so I decided to pass. But if I were to go back and double major, I might consider doing that. I hope this helps.

Teach math to grade-schoolers. I'm sure the psychology will come in handy with that. But, he'd also need a teaching degree.
