Is canadian shipping line a scam?

i been trying to get a cruise job and have sent my resume to over 10 cruise lines..I did receive and job offer from canadian shipping line but they are charging me 610 dollars for a work permit. I went on a search before getting into anything and have found info saying they are a scam company. Do you know anything..will appreciate the help..and if you know the best way 4 me to get the job on my dreams i can use some help

Everyone knows that Canada does not yet have electricity. It would be absurd to think that they have ships too!

I won't touch dumba** al cupracaba's idiotcy. Do you mean Canada Steamship Lines? I wasn't aware they still had a cruise line. I thought they were simply cargo. 610 seems high for a work permit, but if it also includes the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) required training then it is reasonable.
There also used to be a CP Ships (Canadian Pacific Ships) who owned Carnival Cruise Lines, but there have been so many mergers in that field that I have no idea who is what anymore.
Before you accept them as a scam, find additional evidence. Do a corporate check for them on the stock market. They should be on Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or New York exchanges if they are legit.
Be wary but go for your dream. Check them out at Georgian College in Owen Sound, Ontario. They offer training in navigation and engineering. http://www.georcoll.on.ca/

it probably is. i also received an unsolicited email from canadianshippingline offering a job in their new ship. although there is an existing website canadianshippingline.com, this site has several mispelled words and grammatical errors. would you trust a SHIPPING company that spells "tonnage" as "tannage?"
when i checked the header of the email, it actually came from walla.com which is a free webmail service. most scammers use webmail services. the telephone numbers (malaysian numbers) indicated as contact numbers are also identified as those often used in scam emails. as a general rule, dont trust anyone that asks for advance payment.
