i want to become an installation tech, for audio visual, or telecommunications. How do become one?

Try MONSTER.COM to see if there are any jobs that look appealing. Since you don't want to stay at entry level, look for companies that have *both* entry and advanced level jobs.
Once there, learn everything you can. In fact, if your finances will allow it, tell them you'll work free for 2 weeks. That will make you standout from the other applicants.
