Best Answer:
making money as an owner operator is alot tougher than most think, first off is the expense of a truck, biggest mistake made by people wanting to do this,is to go buy a really expensive truck, sure they are nice to drive and look at,but a paid for truck will make more money than one you pay 2500 a month for. insurance is another big issue. fuel is a very large expense, average truck gets 5-7 miles to the gallon so a 5000 mile round trip will cost approx 2900 dollars just in fuel, that doesn't touch tolls, permits, authority, insurance, cargo insurance, license or up keep, blow one recap tire 200 bux gone. you can make money, but you will have to run your butt off, mind your $$,if your married/with kids don't make any plans on being home much unless you can hook up with a good line haul.

That really depends on a lot of things. I know from experience that it is not an easy thing to make work these days with the high cost of fuel, insurance, truck payments, etc.........
It is my opinion that you can make the most the easiest if you are a company driver.
