Why is it important to record customer request for technical support?

Always record it as it allows you to better document your tech support efficiency and customer service. You want to reduce the turn-around time to a little as possible. Lets you know how good your tech support people are and if they need more/better tools, or more/better people.
It gives you info on what customers seem to have trouble with what technology/software. Alerts you to whiners or people who need serious help. lol. Also, with a well documented system, you have more support behind you if someone says they called in but they didn't.
And finally, so you don't forget about someone's problem.
