Should I pursue a career as a mortgage broker?

I have been in the Air Force for almost 5 years and planning on getting out of the military, so I'm looking for possible career options out there. I've heard some good things about being a mortgage broker. The pay of course, and the satisfaction of helping people own their homes. What should I do?

They are being hit even harder then the real estate brokers. This is not a good time to enter this field, you need leads and the brokers still getting homes sold (there are some!) are loyal to the brokers they have worked with before. The idea of a non-performing loan is too scary at this point.

You're about 4 years late. I dunno if you have been watching TV lately. Interest rates are going up and people have stopped buying houses or refinancing. Unless you plan on doing commercial loans, I'd say it's definitely riskier than some other forms of jobs.

As long as you are willing to work hard and study to get your license, you will be fine...I had a friend who has gone from a Customer Service Rep and now is a mortgage broker after investing the money and time to go to school to obtain your license. All I can say is "walk by faith and stay in prayer" you will succeed...You can do whatever you want as long as it is something that satisfies and stimulates you. If you are doing it for the money and your heart is not in it, it will bore you and it will not succeed as you are in it for the money.
