How much should a marketing manager of a mall get paid? Is $4000/month right considering the area & all info ?
Asked by gelilab
The Crossings Premium Outlets, parent company is Simon Company,(www.premiumoutlets.com), offered me the position marketing manager of the mall. The general manager has told me that position will make me second in command to him over the whole mall and first in command when he is not there. there are over 100 stores I would over see be responsible for, 3 staffed management office, a large group of security guards that I have 2 manage when he is not there, and make sure all in the mall is going well with customers, and facilities. Plus my duties will be 2 manage 4 employees in the information department of the mall, & run marketing reports & compare with corporate, constantly have 2 report 2 a team of regional managers, make marketing reports every day, come up with at least 60 ideas in a day or 2 on how 2 market the mall. My experience; I have an extensive background in clerical & administrative work, I have an AA of arts in Manufacturing/Textile, & I have always asst marketing mangers

Is this The Crossings in Tannersville, PA? If so, that is pretty good money for someone of your education and experience in that locale. It is also a boatload of responsibilities. It sounds to me that they are unwilling to pay alot for the position and that they may have shied away from more qualified candidates who would demand more. For you, it is a nice addition to your resume and a good stepping stone to something bigger and better. Just be prepared to feel overworked and underappreciated. No matter where the job is, you need to make sure you can live comfortably off of that kind of money or you will be miserable.

It would help tp know if the job is in Chicago or Bug Tussle, Tennessee. It would make a difference. $4k / mo for that job doesn't sound like a lot of money to me.

The biggest things keeping you from $4,000 a month: -an AA only. -malls are everywhere, so they probably are competitive with salaries, but probably try to pay as little as they can. -and it's just a mall...i can't imagine any mall i've been in paying $50,000 to anyone, except maybe the guy in charge.

Congratulations but I would suggest you negotiate a bit higher. Understand however that if you demand a higher pay you will be placing yourself under scrutiny and pressure cause they will expect a higher return on their investment which is you. If you are willing to take the challenge go for it otherwise take your offer.
