What is a reasonable pay scale for a Project Manager?
Asked by ajanteau
I work for a fortune 100 company who is downsizing. They are partnered with another contracting agency who may be interested in hiring some from our group. They know my current salary and I've expressed that I would want a considerable pay increase but how much should I negotiate if offered the position? It's a project manager position with 30+ technicians. I only have around 2 years experience. The position is in the IT industry in Michigan. Neither of which are doing very well right now for employment right now. The company is fairly new but is steadily growing and it's contracting to my current company.

I'd say private sector $60K - $80K per year Government sector $40K - $70K . Both with good medical benefits. Your salary will depend on the "Value" of the project and on where you live. If it requires a change of location make sure you check for cost of living adjustments and get the move paid for. If the job is overseas make sure you get a rent allowance.

Depends on where you live and the type of position and field you are in. Check http://promotions.monster.com/salary/?WT_srch=1&WT_srch=1 to figure it out.
