How difficult is it to get office temp work in a city like Chicago or Seattle?

I finished college last year, and I have solid typing skills and decent knowledge of computer applications. I'm thinking about moving to one of these cities, and since it will probably take me awhile to find a suitable permanent job, I might try to work as an office temp for awhile. How difficult is it to get temporary office work? How long does it usually take to get your first assignment? I should add that I don't have much experience working in an office, if that would make a difference.
