Career Questions and Answers
How can I find out if I have what it takes to be a psychologist?
Asked by bowruss
I'm doing a bit of soul searching and also trying to figure out what sort of career I should pursue. There have been a few careers that I have been interested in. Such as, Architect, English Teacher, Underwater Welder, and English/Spanish Translator. Although my grades in school weren't perfect, I feel that I've learned much more on my own after school than while I was in it. Now that I can type decently without looking at the keyboard and I can now speak spanish enough to carry a conversation, I feel it's time to explore my career options. I'm leaning toward psychology because I've always been a great listener and have helped many friends and family with their problems. I will be attending college next month and I register for classes tomorrow. If I am to pursue a career as a psychologist, what classes should I take and why? Also, what does it take to be a psychologist? Understanding? I have that. Caring? I have that, too.
