why do people say that the coal mining jobs are going to be non-existent?

People do you know that coal is what is keeping the lights on in this world? I just seen a answer to a question and i am here to tell you all that my daddy has worked in the coal mines since he was 18 and my husband has been working in the mines also for 9 years and not once have either one had to worry about a job or where the next job would come if they did get laid off.

They will be non existant, in about two hundred years.

A:
1. Coal reserves are dwindling. 2. There is a huge amount of automation happening in mining. For every ton of coal mined the number of workers employed has become just one fourth in about 20 years. 3. Due to environmental hazards, alternative fuels are being developed. But, coal mining would continue for foreseeable future!
